Description
Wally’s Wine & Spirits, LLC is looking for an experienced, motivated, hardworking Wine Director to join its team. This is a full time, not a remote position.
The successful candidate will have an in-depth knowledge of wines, as well as the ability to quickly recall and share complex information about diverse types of wines, wine pairings and tasting notes. Their main responsibility is to promote wine sales through staff and customer education, and by:
Ordering wines
Maintaining the wine stock
Creating a wine list and writing wine descriptions
Suggesting food and wine pairings to servers and customers
Recommending wines based on customer preferences
Training waitstaff on wines
Conducting wine tastings for staff and customers
Teaching wine courses
Ability to prioritize responsibilities, multi-task, and manage time efficiently
Genuine passion for hospitality with the desire to grow professionally
Guest focused approach to management
Punctuality
Qualifications: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability needed.
Required Experience:
Minimum 5 years wine operations experience in fine dining with an extensive knowledge of Old-World Wines.
Minimum 2 years wine buying experience
Ability to work in a high pressure, demanding environment
Excellent wine and beverage knowledge and wine pairings
Excellent knowledge of computer applications and POS system
Open flexibility – requires weekend and evening work schedule
